In this day and age technology is more important than ever. Many industries greatly benefit from digital technology, including the real estate market. Years before, agents had limited ways to advertise their properties, while they now have a plethora of platforms they can use to get their information out. Advertising tools like newspaper ads, brochures, business cards and even word of mouth used to be the most effective methods to reach potential clients. These tools are still valid methods of advertising, but do not compare the reach and versatility that digital technology now offers. Agents have now expanded their viewing reach by using digital tools such as the internet, social media, and digital applications. If agents want to increase their revenue they must take advantage of the digital tools that are currently available.

92% of all home buyers use the internet at some point in their home search

87% of all buyers who work with agents trust them as good information sources

42% of all home buyers used the internet as their first step in their home search

14% of all home buyers looked online for information about the buying process

Here are some examples of those digital tools that are utilized by some of the most successful agents in the industry:

Real estate portals: Real estate portals are seen by several thousand visitors each day, all of whom are interested in real estate. Real Estate portals like are one of the most effective ways to advertise both rental and sale properties.

Web page: Web pages are great for connecting with customers on a more intimate level. They are able to establish trust, credibility, and make it easier for buyers to see what a company has to offer.

Real estate apps: Using a real estate app, potential customers can find what they are looking for from the comfort of their own smart phone. Real estate apps can be downloaded to phones and tablets so users can have the information at their fingertips.

Social networks: Social networks can be used to interact directly with users. Using networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn companies can personalize their pages with relevant content that potential buyers can easily access.

E-mail marketing: Email remains a powerful tool that can be used to reach a big group of people that are interested in similar properties all at once, saving on time and postage.

Ads in Google AdWords: This digital tool can be very effective for companies who wish to pay to have their advertisements displayed in relevant searches when specific keywords are used.

Having a blog of your own: Having ones own blog can be extremely helpful to an agent. A blog can keep an audience engaged with the realtor’s knowledge of the market. This also allows the agent to connect with potential clients through the posting of helpful articles, listings of best places to live, tips for selling or buying a home, and even home decor. It helps the reader get the inside scoop from a professional and well informed realtor.
